Outpatient Low Vision Rehabilitation

At Southington Care Center, our occupational therapists help people use their remaining vision to better complete everyday tasks. Our skilled occupational therapists will provide extensive patient and family education to keep people more independent and safe in their home environments. 

Treatment Strategies:

•  Home safety evaluations
• Adaptive equipment training
• Resource education
• C.E.R.T. program
  

C.E.R.T. is a treatment program used by our occupational therapists that incorporates the patient and family in the treatment process using these principles:

• Contrast and lighting assessments for tasks and the environment
• Environmental / Home safety assessments
• Resource referrals to our partners and physicians
• Technology training

Outpatient services are covered by Medicare Part B and most major health care insurance of which we are in network.  A referral for occupational therapy services by a physician is required for insurance or Medicare coverage.
